Chaves County Booking Photo Records
A booking photograph is created during one custody episode. It can remain in an agency file after the person leaves, but it says nothing by itself about bond, dismissal, conviction, transfer, or sentence completion. Pair the image with its source date, booking identifier, and court context. A later photo from NMCD may relate to state prison custody rather than the earlier Chaves County booking.
New Mexico IPRA, Sections 14-2-1 through 14-2-12 NMSA 1978, presumes access to public records subject to statutory and other-law exceptions. A maintained booking photograph is an agency record, but disclosure can be limited by an expungement order, juvenile confidentiality, protected victim information, medical or security concerns, an active-investigation rule, or another lawful restriction.

The official-channel sweep found no Chaves County photo gallery. That absence is central. It prevents an old third-party booking page from being mistaken for a county release record. Use the county request route for the local photo and NMCD only when state custody applies.

For the named person, verify the booking number or approximate booking date before comparing images. Physical resemblance is not a safe substitute for a record match. A photo can also remain online after the associated public agency record has changed.
No Chaves County Mugshot Feed
The official Chaves County Detention page is a facility and services page. It does not expose a booking number, charge, bond, booking date, release date, release reason, photograph, or released filter. The sheriff page also yielded no official photo feed. No verified county mobile jail app was found in the official pages, app links, or targeted search.
That finding was current on July 29, 2026. The county may add a tool later, so check the live Chaves County Detention page. Do not treat a third-party “recent bookings” page as the absent official feed, and do not infer that a displayed booking is a release. The county's 24-hour releases process likewise begins with official verification because no rolling list exists.

Request Chaves County Booking Photos
Chaves County accepts IPRA requests in person, by mail, fax, email, and through online or downloadable forms. Ask for an existing record, not an explanation. A narrow request should identify the person, booking episode, approximate date, and the photograph tied to that booking. It can also request the booking and release sheet so the image is not detached from custody context.
- Open the Chaves County IPRA page and choose a submission route.
- Provide the requester's name, address, and phone number as the county requires for a written request.
- Identify the person and a bounded booking date range. Add known identifiers.
- Ask for the associated booking photograph and booking/release transaction, if maintained and disclosable.
- Request electronic delivery, an estimate, and the cited legal basis for any withheld part.
- Keep the response with the photo, source date, and case context.
The county posts charges of $0.25 per printed or scanned page, $10 per CD or DVD, $20 per USB, $20 for a OneDrive link, plus applicable postage. Payment is due before release. Records should be available as soon as practicable and no later than 15 calendar days unless the request is burdensome; the county should explain added time or denial in writing.

Official law-enforcement releases and established reporting may preserve an arrest image. The publication date is not the date the person left custody. Read the court register and obtain the release transaction if release itself matters. A bond release leaves the case pending, while dismissal or acquittal concerns case outcome. Transfer means another agency took custody.
Commercial archives may mirror old data without a clear update clock, retention rule, or correction process. They are not proof of release and are not linked or endorsed. If an image is found there, return to the originating office. An official source can identify the booking and address an error in its own record. Cached copies should not be used to evade an expungement order.
Expunge Chaves County Photo Records
New Mexico's Criminal Record Expungement Act, Sections 29-3A-1 through 29-3A-7 NMSA 1978, provides routes for qualifying arrest and public records. Eligibility, waiting periods, notice, exclusions, and court findings apply. Expungement can change public visibility across court and agency systems, so a later no-result does not prove the event never occurred.

The research found no verified New Mexico law creating a general anti-pay-to-remove mugshot rule comparable to some states. Do not claim one or endorse a removal vendor. A valid order should be directed to the court and originating agencies through their stated process. If a public record merely contains an error, submit the conflicting official source and ask the agency for its correction procedure.

Chaves NMCD Release Photographs
NMCD Victim Services says public results can provide a photograph along with location, offense, and supervision status, but image availability can vary. Search by name or NMCD number and match the record carefully. Select Include Inactive when checking a former state record. NMCD expressly excludes county and city detention jurisdiction.
NMCD policy also requires a current offender-management photograph within 90 days of a projected prison release. That institutional image belongs to the state record. It should not be labeled as the earlier Chaves County booking photograph unless the source proves they are the same record. Note: A state corrections photograph and a county booking photograph may depict the same person but document different custody episodes.
Correct Chaves Booking Photo Records
If a Chaves County photo is tied to the wrong name, booking, or date, contact the agency that created the record. Send the disputed record and the conflicting official source, and ask for the agency's correction procedure. For a court-caption or disposition problem, contact the clerk of the filing court. For an NMCD photo or status error, identify the NMCD number and exact field through the agency's help or IPRA route.
Do not replace one official field with an inference. Preserve the original response, correction request, and later agency answer.
